Anise Kitchen + Market is a new fresh food restaurant and take-away eatery based in Laredo, Texas. We have had the pleasure of working with with co-owners Becky and Evelyn from the very beginning, creating the logo design and brand assets as well as the website and full collateral for this energetic and thoughtful venture.
With Laredo’s rich history as a bilingual city, we strove to achieve a balance between two worlds: custom typography which conveys movement and handmade appeal paired with a contemporary sans-serif face. In our logo design, the graphic mark represents the iconic star-shaped outline of an anise seed pod. This nod to the aromatic plant continues with a triangular repeat pattern inspired by the seed shape, and hand-drawn botanical illustrations throughout the restaurant materials.
The classic pairing of black and white in our palette lets the colorful surroundings take center stage. Accents of emerald green on printed materials match the space’s beautiful tile work and bold espresso machines.
Our custom WordPress website design mimics the lively, airy atmosphere of the restaurant itself with a clean black and white layout paired with an alternating grid of vibrant images, stripes, and star anise graphic touches. The site features sticky navigation, flexible logo, easy-to-edit monthly cocktail features, full food and drink menus, and more.
