Tonic
Santa Fe, New Mexico
Tonic is a cocktail bar, live jazz venue, and eatery (open late!) in a prime spot downtown Santa Fe. The club is decorated in magnificent art deco style, with bold royal blue walls, gold trim framing the bar, and dramatic crystal chandeliers. We were asked to design a suite of six postcards and custom illustrations characterized by the same precise geometry and strong color palette, to be used as check presenters for customers. This was such a fun project to delve into and enjoyable client to collaborate with; our final card designs were printed on natural linen and metallic gold papers to make for an eye-catching detail on tables in the space.
We also designed and built a corresponding custom Squarespace website design that is fully responsive for mobile phones and tablets, and easy for the client to edit and keep up-to-date. The site design features deco-inspired typography in white against moody full screen imagery on the homepage, as a bold introduction to the club’s three offerings: jazz, cocktails, and eats. The interior pages contrast with airy white space and a slim two-column format, tying in the same bold headline styling throughout. An embedded Instagram feed lets customers join in the fun, and an events calendar lists upcoming performances. You can enjoy this great new place until 2am–be sure to sip on some of the house golden age classics.
