The 2019 relaunch of our custom WordPress website design for Cfile realizes noted scholar and gallerist Garth Clark’s newest project, an online nexus for the global ceramics community. The site offers weekly news from every sector of the ceramics world: design, architecture, art, studio pottery, technology, books, exhibitions, and more. It also includes a digital screening room offering video resources of ceramic work, artist interviews, and virtual museum visits. We are honored to have provided this wonderful organization with our website design, programming, and graphic design services for many years.
Custom-built on the WordPress CMS platform, the robust feature-rich website offers categorization and automated sorting as new material is posted live on the site; a dynamic homepage slider; rollover excerpts of each article in the results grids; integrated donation and subscription capabilities; and individual logins for Cfile staff writers and editors to contribute content on an ongoing basis. Our design architecture focuses on a clean and simple grid throughout, with a subtle hamburger menu for navigation and a sticky logo at the top of the site. The flexible custom fields in our Gutenberg-compatible editor allow Cfile’s writers to embed full-width advertising opportunities, a mini-sidebar of suggested posts, full-width, wide-width, and side-by-side images, as well as in-post slideshows to accompany their text, and to configure each element via drag-and-drop to best fit each article. Colors in the design palette are the rich red and dusty rose inspired by the earth clay artists work with. The colors, clean white space, narrow modern fonts, and focus on the logo in a subtly heavier weight also come into play in the accompanying e-newsletter template design.
