Graphic Design + Website Design
Bode’s General Store
Abiquiu, New Mexico
When approaching graphic design for the legendary mercantile Bode’s General Store, we worked to update the logo while keeping its roots in mind. In the Georgia O’Keeffe red-rock country of Abiquiu, New Mexico, Bode’s was ready to refresh their longstanding branding and logo design after 94 years in business. Inspired by the old Standard Oil roadside signage shape and configuration, we looked to maintain the original vision of the vintage logo from 1919, while giving it a clean update and modern touch.
Staying simple, the new design mimics a vintage farming label or badge, appropriate for this one-stop shop that sells everything from tractor parts to buffalo meat. The chosen fonts are timeless in nature, and will age well, while the colors are easily interchangeable for seasonal looks and the wide breadth of merchandise on offer should they choose. Our initial package highlights that famous O’Keeffe country red found so gorgeously in the landscape.
We also created and developed a coordinating custom WordPress website design, including a live Instagram feed, restaurant offerings, shop information, Mail Chimp newsletter sign-up, and e-commerce for all your favorite Bode’s logo merchandise. The design is fully responsive, so hikers, fisherman, and artists on-the-go can checkout all Bode’s has to offer on their mobile phones, too.
Other projects include: label designs for Bode’s very own Hot Nuts and Chipotle Pepper Sauce, coffee mugs, hats, coasters, t-shirts, restaurant table tent signage, exterior and interior metal signage, menus, bumper stickers and magnets—you name it, it’s at Bode’s!
We hope, like the store, that our new logo and website designs will prove timeless…and be “here a long time.”
